What is Moondance Flower farm, you might ask?

We are a Traverse City flower shop where all the flowers we use are farm-grown, never shipped, and designed thoughtfully for your wedding, event, or home!

Inspired by the Van Morrison hit song (and the first wedding dance song for Farmers Mark and Lindsay), Moondance Flower Farm is a small, sustainable, family-run flower farm and floral design studio on Old Mission Peninsula in Traverse City, Michigan. We grow every bloom with intention - from seed to centerpiece - specializing in one-of-a-kind wedding florals, artful events, bouquet subscriptions, and seasonal farm experiences.

At Moondance, we believe flowers are more than decorations. They’re memory-holders, mood-makers, story-tellers. Our hope is simple: to bring more beauty, connection, and awe into the world - through local blooms, heartfelt design, and the joy of working with nature, not against it.

What is our hope for Moondance?

We want to be Northern Michigan’s home for seasonal flowers — the kind that make people pause and breathe deeper.

We strive to:
• Create artful, intentional florals for flower-forward weddings who value design, sustainability, and personal storytelling.
• Offer experiences - workshops, U-Picks, and creative events - that reconnect people with nature.
• Build a community rooted in local agriculture, craftsmanship, and small-business magic.
• Show our son Levi what it looks like to follow a dream bravely, joyfully, and wholeheartedly.

Every interaction at Moondance is grounded in care, creativity, and a touch of whimsy that feels uniquely “Moondance.”

Where did we start from?

Before Moondance, we had two career-driven professionals - Mark a nurse and Lindsay a lawyer. These two careers checked all the “responsible” boxes, but after their having our first child during the Covid pandemic, they started asking, What if life could feel more like us?

We craved sunlight. Creativity. Family time. A life aligned with our values instead of our calendars.

So we followed a tug that felt a little wild and a lot right:
we traded desks for dahlias, scrubs for soil, and long commutes for long summer evenings in the field.

We learned to grow flowers from scratch, to build a business from the ground up, and to trust that passion paired with hard work is a powerful combination. With every seed started in our basement and every bouquet handed to a bride, we fell deeper in love with this new chapter.

And somehow - through equal parts grit, laughter, Google searches, and pure Michigan magic…
Moondance Flower Farm came to life.

Traverse City Michigan Florists

Because our days now look like this:

• Levi racing Panda the Newf between rows of zinnias.
• Early mornings harvesting flowers, coffee in hand.
• Designing weddings for couples who value art, story, and sustainability.
• Hosting workshops that turn strangers into friends.
• Pouring our hearts into a farm that gives back more beauty than it takes.

We’re living the dream because we get to build something meaningful as a family — something rooted in gratitude, creativity, community, and the joy of watching something grow.

We’re honored you’re here, reading this, and choosing to be part of the Moondance story.
