A Day Designed to Help You Bloom
✿
A Day Designed to Help You Bloom ✿
Bloom & Gather was created for anyone craving a beautiful pause. A day to step away from everyday busyness, reconnect with your creativity, work with your hands, and spend time immersed in the flower fields of Moondance. This is part floral workshop, part botanical art experience, part garden gathering. Flowers are at the heart of the day, but the deeper invitation is to slow down, create something meaningful, connect with nature, and return to the most grounded version of yourself. You do not need to be an artist, florist, or experienced maker to join us. You only need a willingness to be present, curious, and open to beauty.

-
Arrive at the farm and ease into the day with coffee, pastries, and a warm welcome. This opening time is designed to feel relaxed and unhurried, giving guests space to settle in, meet one another, and begin transitioning out of the pace of everyday life.
-
The day begins with introductions, a look at the creative experiences ahead, and a guided walk through the flower fields. Guests will get to know the farmers, connect with the group, and learn more about the seasonal blooms growing at Moondance. The tour will also introduce the basics of harvesting and conditioning flowers, setting the foundation for the hands-on floral work later in the day.
-
Guests will explore the quiet beauty of pressed flowers through a guided botanical art activity. This hands-on workshop offers a slower, more delicate way to work with flowers, transforming seasonal blooms into keepsake pieces inspired by the farm.
-
Guests will learn the cyanotype process, a sun-powered botanical printing technique that captures the silhouettes and textures of flowers and foliage. After a guided demonstration, each guest will create their own botanical print using materials gathered from the farm.
-
Midday, guests will pause for a fresh, relaxed lunch featuring charcuterie, vegetables, and seasonal bites. This is a chance to rest, connect with the group, and enjoy a slower moment before moving into the afternoon design portion of the day.
-
The afternoon begins with a guided lesson in floral tablescape design. Guests will learn how color, texture, height, spacing, scent, mechanics, and overall flow come together to create a thoughtful table experience. This portion helps guests understand not just how to arrange flowers, but how to design an atmosphere.
-
Guests will return to the fields to harvest flowers for the evening tablescape. With guidance from the Moondance team, they’ll learn how to select blooms, cut with intention, and properly condition flowers so they are ready to design with.
-
Using the flowers they harvested, guests will help create a lush, garden-inspired tablescape for the evening meal. Through demonstration and hands-on design, they’ll learn approachable floral mechanics and arrangement techniques while contributing to the final shared table.
-
As the final table is set and dinner preparations begin, guests will enjoy wine in the garden. This is a softer, celebratory pause in the day, offering time to wander, connect, take in the farm, and appreciate everything created throughout the experience.
-
Before dinner, guests will have time to photograph the completed tablescape with flowers, place settings, and final details in place. This moment captures the beauty of the shared creation and gives guests space to document the experience.
-
Garden-Inspired Dinner
The day concludes with an intimate dinner gathered around the finished floral tablescape. Surrounded by the flowers they harvested and arranged, guests will enjoy a meaningful meal that brings together the full experience: nature, creativity, connection, local food, and the beauty of a summer evening at Moondance.

Bloom & Gather was designed to be more than a day at the farm. It can also be the heart of a beautiful Northern Michigan weekend.
Whether you’re coming from Traverse City, Grand Rapids, Detroit, Chicago, or beyond, we hope this experience gives you a meaningful reason to come north, slow down, and spend a summer weekend surrounded by flowers, creativity, local food, and the beauty of the season.
Come in on Friday, settle into your stay, and ease into the weekend with dinner at Umbo for seafood or Taproot for farm to table. Spend Saturday at Moondance for a full day of flower harvesting, botanical art, seasonal design, wine in the garden, and dinner in bloom. Then let Sunday be slow: coffee at Waterbearer, lunch at Right Bower, a walk by the water, a farm stand visit, a winery stop on Old Mission Peninsula, or a hike through the Sleeping Bear Dunes before heading home.
Looking for accommodations? There are many great hotels and Airbnbs in the area, but we recommend our friends at the Alexandra Inn for great ambience and water views/ access.
For guests traveling from farther away, Traverse City is served by Cherry Capital Airport, with flight options that may make a weekend trip more accessible. We recommend checking current routes and availability as you plan your travel.
However you arrive, we hope Bloom & Gather feels like a reason to pause, reconnect, and experience Northern Michigan in full bloom.
