NORTHERN MICHIGAN FLOWER FARM & FLORAL STUDIO

We grow flowers. We create beauty. We're building a life around both.

Welcome to Moondance, our family-run flower farm and floral design studio on Old Mission Peninsula in Traverse City, Michigan.

We're Lindsay and Mark, and we believe flowers have a way of bringing people together, making ordinary moments extraordinary and reminding us to slow down and appreciate what's growing around us.

From our fields to your wedding day, your home or an afternoon spent at the farm, everything we do is rooted in a love of beautiful flowers, thoughtful design and the place we call home.

OUR BEGINNING

A little wild. A lot right.

Before there were flowers, there were two careers, a growing family and a question that changed everything.

Lindsay was a lawyer. Mark was a nurse. We had built careers that checked all the responsible boxes, but after welcoming our first child during the pandemic, we started imagining what life might look like if we did things a little differently.

We wanted more sunlight. More creativity. More time together. A life that felt a little more connected to the things we valued most.

What if life could feel more like us?

So we traded desks for dahlias, scrubs for soil and long commutes for long summer evenings in the field.

We started seeds in our basement, learned how to grow flowers, built a business from the ground up and discovered just how much work goes into making something beautiful. And somewhere between the muddy boots, early mornings, Google searches and first bouquets, Moondance Flower Farm came to life.

The name? A little nod to the Van Morrison song that happened to be our first wedding dance. We like to think it was a pretty fitting beginning.

What started as a dream of building a different kind of life has become something bigger than we ever imagined. And we get to keep growing it together.

AS FEATURED IN MYNORTH

Living the Dream: We Bought a Flower Farm with No Experience (And Love It)

Leaving behind careers in law and nursing to become flower farmers wasn't exactly part of the plan.

In this MyNorth feature, we're sharing how a trip to Northern Michigan, a little curiosity and one unexpected Zillow listing led us to an entirely different life on Old Mission Peninsula.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

What we're growing goes far beyond flowers.

Moondance was built around a simple hope: to bring more beauty, connection and awe into the world.

Here's what that looks like to us:

THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE FLOWERS

Meet the Moondance crew.

A family-run flower farm means our team looks a little different than most, and we wouldn't have it any other way.

Between growing flowers, dreaming up new ideas, raising our family and keeping a very enthusiastic Newfoundland entertained, there's rarely a dull moment around here.

Farmer Lindsay
Creative Director + Co-Owner

Lindsay is the creative force behind Moondance, bringing together floral design, storytelling and an ever-growing collection of ideas.

From imagining wedding installations to dreaming up new farm experiences, she loves creating beautiful things that bring people together. Her approach is equal parts artistry, intention and just enough whimsy to keep things interesting.

A little beyond the flowers: You'll probably find her with an iced miel in hand, dreaming about the next creative project or enjoying a day in Leland with a Cheese Shanty sandwich.

Farmer Mark
Operations Director + Co-Owner

Mark is the person helping turn all those big ideas into reality.

From growing and harvesting to keeping the operational and financial sides of the business moving, he helps make sure Moondance runs as thoughtfully as the flowers are designed.

He's the steady hand behind much of what happens on the farm, balancing the practical details with the bigger picture of what we're building together.

A little beyond the flowers: An oat milk cortado, dinner at The Cook's House or an evening at the family's favorite Secret Beach.

Farmer Meghan
Floral Designer

Meghan brings an artist's eye and years of professional floral design experience to Moondance, including advanced floral training in Madrid and New York City.

Working alongside Lindsay, she helps bring the signature Moondance style to life through thoughtful color palettes, organic movement and a shared love for seasonal flowers.

From the design studio to wedding installations, Meghan combines her technical expertise and creativity to turn big floral ideas into something beautiful, expressive and unmistakably Moondance.

Farmer Levi
CFO, Chief Fun Officer

Levi is here to remind us that running a flower farm should always leave room for a little fun.

His responsibilities include helping in the fields, asking very important questions, keeping Panda company and making sure no one takes themselves too seriously.

Favorite flower: Sunflowers.

Preferred farm fuel: Dino Egg oatmeal.

Farmer Coco
CCO, Chief Cuteness Officer

Coco specializes in stroller-based farm supervision, team morale and reminding everyone to take the occasional snack break.

Her preferred management style involves plenty of cuddles and overseeing operations from someone's arms.

Farm Dog Panda
Head of Visitor Relations

Panda the Newfoundland takes his responsibilities very seriously.

When he's not keeping watch over the fields or accompanying Levi on an important farm mission, he's making sure visitors receive a very enthusiastic welcome.

Compensation is generally accepted in the form of attention, affection and naps.

LIFE AT MOONDANCE

These are the days we dreamed about.

Early mornings in the fields, coffee in hand. Watching an entire wedding come together from flowers we grew. Summer evenings when the farm seems to glow. Sharing what we've learned with the people who visit. Watching our kids grow alongside the flowers. And the occasional moment when we look around and realize that this slightly wild idea has become our everyday life.

It's a lot of hard work. It's a little messy. And we wouldn't trade it for anything.

WHY WE DO IT

Flowers are never just flowers.

They're part of life's biggest celebrations and some of its smallest, most meaningful moments.

They remind us of places, people and feelings. They bring us together. They give us reasons to celebrate and sometimes remind us to slow down.

Whether you're inviting us into your wedding day, bringing our flowers into your home or spending an afternoon wandering through the fields, we hope Moondance leaves you with a little more beauty, connection and wonder.

Thanks for being part of what we're growing.
