Spring Equinox Reset

Happy Spring from Moondance Flower Farm!

Yes, up here in northern Michigan we do in fact still have a bit of snow on the ground on the first day of spring. But that is NOT stopping us from a big pep in our step! We are planting hundreds of seedlings, starting to see our thousands of tulips and daffodils sprouting, and love seeing the buds on our magnolia starting to form! Not to mention the cutest little crocuses that you ever did see!

The spring equinox offers an opportunity to start fresh once again! Sure, New Year’s and the start of a whole fresh year is another great opportunity, too. But with the change of seasons - in particular transitioning to a season of new growth - it feels like an amazing time to challenge oneself to refocus or reset

Here at Moondance Flower Farm, we’re choosing to refresh our commitment to self-care. For Farmer Lindsay, that means setting aside more time to slow down, like extra time at the end of each day to read a book just for fun. It also means starting her bedtime routine earlier, to catch up on a little extra rest to set herself up for success for everything else she wants to do. For Farmer Mark, that looks like a reset on nutrition (especially after lots of great birthday treats!) He’s committing to eating healthier and sourcing his food locally as much as possible.

We take self-care very seriously around here, in part because we know that our days look a lot different when we don’t take that time for self-care and family care. When we skip out on self-care, we can’t devote as much energy and attention to things we love - including each other and the flower farm! Sometimes it’s hard to prioritize setting time aside enjoying some of the little things that can feel almost luxurious, especially with full time jobs, plus the flower farm, and raising a family. But we know that we can’t bring the joy we want to bring through the flower farm if we don’t take good care of ourselves first.

Where can you find more self-care in your day-to-day or in this season to come? Of course, we’re happy to help you find ways to do that! Giving yourself the gift of gorgeous flowers on a weekly basis with our flower subscriptions could be an amazing way to give yourself some extra love. Or stopping by our U-Pick (especially with a U-Pick pass) to take some time to literally slow down and smell the roses, get outside in nature, and enjoy the incredible positive impact from being surrounded by flowers!

We all deserve a little extra love and care, and if we don’t give it to ourselves, how can we expect anyone else to reciprocate?

Wishing you a wonderful transition to this new season, and we can’t wait to spoil you with lots of flowers!
